Mangalore: CWFI Demands Solution for Labour Issues

Mangalore, Oct 4:  The District Committee of Construction Workers Federation of India (CWFI), affiliated to Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) held a protest in front of assistant labour commissioner’s office demanding the implementation of their various demands, at Bendorewell here on Monday, October 4.


 


Addressing the protesters general secretary of CPI (M) Vasantha Achary said that the government should increase the amount of pension from Rs 300 to Rs 1000. He also demanded to sanction scholarships for every student who has cleared SSLC.

Demanding the representation of CITU in the Labour Welfare Board, BM Bhat, president of CITU, said that the government should form an advisory board which is furnished in the Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Act, Section IV.

Balakrishana Shetty also addressed the protestors. Venkatesh Appaiah Sindhi, assistant commissioner of Labour Department received the memorandum from the protestors.

Secretary Sunil Kumar Bajal, Shashidhar Shakthinagar, Vasudeva, Shivaram Gowda Sullia, Joni Sullia, Shashindra Kukyan, Shankar and Rathnakar of Moodbidri among others were present. Jayanth Naik proposed the vote of thanks.
