Bangalore: Katta Jagadish Fails to Secure Bail

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Oct 5: The hopes of minister, Katta Subrahmanya Naidu’s son, Katta Jagadish Naidu, to get bail in connection with a case registered against him by the Lokayukta, were dashed on Monday October 4. Jagadish was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police while giving bribe to a person for destroying evidence connected with Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board land acquisition scam with which he is allegedly involved. The court adjourned hearing in the case to Tuesday.

On Friday last, advocates for Katta Jagadish had filed bail application in the 23rd additional city civil and sessions court. The Lokayukta officials had opposed the bail petition. As such, the Lokayukta was given time till Monday to file objections.

On Monday, advocates for the Lokayukta argued that releasing Jagadish on bail can have adverse affect on the case, as the accused is a Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike corporator and the son of an influential minister. Initially, the judge had adjourned the hearing till afternoon, after hearing arguments from both the sides. Later, he adjourned it to Tuesday.
