Mangalore, Oct 5: Dalit Rights Committee, district unit under CPIM organized a protest in front of the deputy commissioner's office here on Tuesday October 5 demanding solution for the problems faced by scheduled tribes in the region.

The committe on the occasion also submitted a memorandum to the DC with their various demands. Patta rights for all the scheduled tribes in the forest region legalizing the land under Forest Act - 2006 they are residing in, distribution of two-acre agricultural land to Koragas according to the report by Mohammed Peer, overall implementation of ITDP project including Koragas under Mangalore City Corporation and filling up of vacancies meant for the STs in various centre and state government organizations among others were the demands made by the committee members in the 15-point memorandum.

The protest was organized on a call by the Dalit Rights Committee, national unit.
