Mangaluru, Oct 5: Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy organized Dr M R Shetty Memorial lecture on October 4, 2021 at Dr M V Shetty College Auditorium. To commemorate the first death anniversary of the founder, Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, Dr M V Shetty COP held a memorial lecture for the students of Dr M V Shetty, Kanachur and Shreedevi College of Physiotherapy.

The inaugural function was held at 9.30 am which was inaugurated by U T Khader, MLA Mangaluru South. Khader in his inaugural address spoke about his association with Dr M V Shetty and remembered the contribution of Dr M R Shetty in the health sector. The guest of honour was Dr Arjun Shetty, neurosurgeon, KMC Hospital, Mangaluru. The managing trustees of the institution, professor Hima Urmila Shetty and Dr Ranjith Shetty were also present for the event.

Professor Hima Urmila Shetty spoke about the interests and hard work put by Dr M R Shetty in setting up the colleges. She also spoke about alumnus of the trust college who have been working in various parts around the globe and have been successful in their fields. The resource persons for the lecture were Dr Karvannan, Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru who spoke on shoulder impairment.

The other resource person, Dr Sumita Jain, Senior Physiotherapist, Olympic Gold Quest, New Delhi who spoke about the challenges faced by the physiotherapists in preparing the athletes for the game. Around 150 delegates attended the lecture with proper Covid protocols being followed.
