Kundapur, Oct 30: “Repairs to houses and such other works for acutely poor families of backward class and backward tribes In Kundapur should not face setbacks for want of funds. Provide those help on priority,” said member of Kundapur municipal council Mohandas Shenoy. He was speaking in the ordinary meeting of the council. Prabhaker who joined his voice for it said that it is better to provide such help not only to backward class and backward tribes but to any poor families.

Mohandas Shenoy said that parking places in the council limits should be marked and the vehicles should be parked within them. “Further steps in this connection should be taken after considering the results,” he said.

Vanita S Billava complained that a light pole is erected near the residence of Koraga Devadiga and Mescom but electric connection is not provided.

Chandrashekar Kharvi suggested that a workshop should be held for all the members of the municipal council after inviting expert resource persons. He urged to amend the decision regarding the petty shops taken during the last meeting as it was incomplete.

President Veena Bhasker Mendon responding to it said that the decision is binding. But Chandrashekar Kharvi insisted that the sentences read in the previous meeting are not included in the decision. Mohandas Shenoy said that it is customary to call roads as PWD roads in local language. “The government has asked the council to repair the roads in the council limits. The roads were developed after that,” he said.

Girish G K and Santhosh Kumar Shetty spoke on behalf of the president. “Collection of taxes is not stressed due to Covid. The system is becoming normal slowly. Between 85% and 90% taxes will be collected before February. I am confident that the people will respond,” said chief officer Gopalakrishna Shetty.

“Fishermen are facing an uncertain future without business for the last four months. There should be relaxation in their cess,” said Raghavendra Kharvi. Sridhar Chandrashekar spoke on behalf of the fishermen.

Chief officer Gopalakrishna Shetty said that the fishermen will be invited to the office for discussion. “There will be a concession if the cesses for six months are paid in one go,” he said.

Prabhavati Shetty said that interlocks should be laid at Chickansal road. She said that improper drainage near Aralikatte causes problems and requested that it be set right.

President Veena Bhakser presided over the meeting. Vice president Sandheep Kharvi, standing committee president Shekar Poojary, chief officer Gopalakrishna Shetty and officials were present.
