Kundapur: Traditional Kambala committee urges government for funds

Kundapur, Oct 30: “As conducting traditional Kambala in Brahmavar costs more than Rs two lacs, the government should provide at least Rs one lac. The minister and the MLA in the district should urge the government,” said Kambala committee district president Sudhaker Hegde.

He was speaking after presiding over a meeting of the owners of Kambala houses and buffaloes at Brahmavar on Saturday to discuss conducting the traditional Kambla for 2021-22 as per the rules of the government and the funds for it from the government.

Discussions over strengthening and uniting Kambala committees in all the taluks were held. Owners of buffaloes explained to the owners of Kambala fields that three or four Kamblas cannot be held on Monday or one day.

Traditional Kambala committee Udupi district president Sudhaker Hegde, secretary Pramod Shetty Heranje, organizing secretary Prathviraj Shetty Billadi, Karunaker Shetty Handadi, Bydnoor’s Venkata Poojary Sasihitlu and Suresh Kanditar Byndoor were present.
