Belagavi, Nov 1: Two youngsters drowned in Katigyana Kere pond in M K Hubli town in the district on Sunday October 31. They were Kartik Prakash Badigera (9), a local, and Kadappa Bheemappa Badigera (21) from Konnur in Gokak taluk.
Kartik Prakash Badigera had gone away to attend nature's call on Sunday morning. In the pond, he slipped accidentally and drowned in the pond. His maternal aunt's son Kadappa Bheemappa Badigera, jumped into the pond to rescue him. As he too did not know how to swim, he soon drowned and lost his life.
Those who were working in nearby fields who realised what had happened, conveyed information to the police. The body of Kadappa was brought out with the help of locals. The body of Kartik was found and brought out by the fire brigade personnel from Bailahongala.
