Udupi, Dec 2: "Teaching aids and laboratory equipment are not showcase pieces to preserve for
future instead they should be put into maximum use for the benefit of the student community," said M Nagesh Shanbhogue, block education officer, Brahmavar region.

He was addressing the students and teachers at the valedictory function of “Science Expo” held at Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar. Science Expo with the theme experience science was held for the students of std X of government and government aided schools of Brahmavar region. As many as 200
students and 30 teachers from these schools participated in the meet.

The Expo included various science oriented competitions such as slogan writing, science model
making, science fiction writing, collage and green city model among others. It also involved the visit of these students to the different laboratories as well as to the ‘Science Park’ of the school where host school children explained and demonstrated important scientific concepts and principles.

The highlight of the Expo was the distribution of ‘Science Kits’ to these schools. Each kit contained most of the requirements of Physics, Chemistry and Biology to conduct simple but needed experiments in the
classrooms.

Prof Mathew C Ninan, principal of the school, Lali A Mathew, vice principal and Harikrishna D, the co-ordinator of the Expo were present at the function. On the whole the Science Expo managed to create the right platform for learning science the way it has to be learned that is by Observing, Explaining and Experimenting.
