Mangalore, Dec 6:  Kannada and cultural department, Dakshina Kannada and Bolpu Kala Tanda, Manchi Bantwal jointly organized a programme to observe the 54th death anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar at Townhall, here on Monday December 6.

Social welfare officer Arun Furtado presided over the programme. Padbanab Moodbidri, chief secretary, Panara alias Nalike Voluteers , Krishna, president, Adidravida Samajaseva Sangha, DK, P Keshava, state committee member, Karnataka Dalit Sangarsha Samiti, DK, K Gopal Kadumutt, president, Baira Samaja Seva Sangha and  M A Naika, vice-president, Marati volunteers, DK were among the dignitaries present on the dias.

Sadly, the purpose of organizing the programme was not served as only few assembled. The Government should make an effort to see that such programmes are a success for the funding should be made good use of.  It would have been a great event if only all the Dalit organizations had made an effort to be the part of the programme.
