Mangalore: Tempo Overturns - One Dies, Seven Injured

Mangalore, Dec 18: After a tempo loaded with crushed stone overturned in Gurpur town on Friday December 17, a woman died and seven others suffered injuries of different degrees. The tempo was hired for conducting patch work for the damaged stretches of the road in Gurpur.

After the driver of the tempo lost control over the vehicle, the vehicle scraped past a few people before overturning. Out of three persons travelling in the ill-fated vehicle, Jayashree (18) from Gulbarga died while being shifted to a hospital. The other injured persons are recuperating in a hospital.

All the injured persons, hailing from Haveri and Gulbarga districts, were hired by road contractor, Mohammed.
