Mangalore: VHP Urges the Bar Not to Take Up the Case

Mangalore, Dec 19 (TOI): The Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal on Saturday December 18 urged the Bar Association not to take up the case of accused Kamalaksha Purusha, his brother Madhava Rao and Chandrakala, accused of child sacrifice.

Sharan Pumpwell, district convener of B'dal, in a letter to Bar Association president SP Chengappa stated that it was a barbaric act which should be condemned by one and all. Capital punishment is the only punishment for the accused, who are not fit to live in this society, he said adding that representing them will be like supporting the accused.

He requested the president to use his good offices with his members that they should not represent the accused. When contacted Chengappa said he had received a lot of representations to this effect. "We cannot pass a resolution as it will be against ethics. We can only request the advocate, who is representing them," he added.
