Bantwal: Judicial Custody for Madoor Isubu, Lawyer Threatened

Bantwal, Dec 20: Madoor Isubu, an underworld fugitive and associate of Chota Shakil, who was in police custody for the last 12 days pertaining to his alleged involvement with the murder of Candle Santu from Polali in the taluk, making extortion calls to local jewellers, B Nagendra Baliga and Suresh V Baliga, and also firing incident at their shop, was on Sunday December 19, remanded to judicial custody.

The personnel of the rural police station here produced Isubu, on expiry of his police custody, before the additional civil judge, Nagaraj S Ankadadoddi, at his residence on Sunday evening. The judge remanded Isubu to 15 days judicial custody.

It is gathered that Isubu was cooperative with the policemen, and that the police team has got good response to their questions. Isubu reportedly confessed that he is fed up with his past deeds, and that he intends to lead an honourable life in the society. The policemen are learnt to have gathered from him that he had himself driven the vehicle used for the murder of Polali Anantu, and also had hired a Tavera vehicle for killing Candle Santu from Polali. The policemen also have gathered extensive information from him about the Uchchil murder attempt case, extortion call to Baliga brothers, shoot out at their shop etc. It may be recalled that relating to this shoot out, a person named Mohammed Iqbal is already in judicial custody.

Isubu reportedly revealed to the policemen that initially he worked in Saudi Arabia as an electrician, and later started supplying workers to different companies on commission basis. He is learnt to have claimed that organizations like Popular Front of India had misused his connections with financially sound individuals in that country for their own ends in the name of public welfare activities.

During interrogation, Isubu also confessed that he had received death threats from a couple of such organizations, sources in the police department said.

In the meanwhile, Dinesh Hegde, who has volunteered to appear in cases on behalf of Isubu, reportedly received threats from callers from abroad. The callers are learnt to have told the advocate that his future will be in jeopardy if he represents Isubu in criminal cases he has been facing. A case has been registered in Barke police station here in this regard, and an investigation has begun.
