Mumbai: Attack on lovers at beach, man killed, woman injured seriously

Mumbai, Feb 3: Two unknown assailants attacked a man and his girlfriend, who were sitting on Mahim beach. While the 30 year old man died, his 22 year old girlfriend is seriously injured in the attack.

Mohammed Wasim Shaikh, resident of Shivajinagar in Govandi is the deceased. His girlfriend is also from the same locality. Though the motive of murder is not known as of now, police suspect that the killers must be familiar with the couple.

Police have arrested two people based on the facial features given by the injured girlfriend. As per details the couple was sitting on the tetrapods at Mahim beach which is a deserted place frequented by drug addicts.

According to the statement given by the injured girl, two men emerged from nowhere and started beating them. When her boyfriend questioned them, they beat him black and blue. Meanwhile, the girl fled from the scene and got admitted into Babha hospital in Bandra.

Later the woman was shifted to Sion hospital by the police as the Babha hospital authorities informed the matter to the police.

Deceased Shaikh, who was working as a driver in Dubai, had left his job recently and returned to Mumbai. Some unofficial reports say that the couple got married recently. Police are also looking at some jilted lover angle in the crime.
