Mangalore: Abbakka Sports, Cultural Meet on Jan 23


Mangalore, Jan 2 (DHNS) : As a part of Abbakka festival that will be held in the last week of January, a sports and cultural meet for children and public has been organised on January 23 at KSRP Maidan in Asaigolli, said Reception Committee President Jayaram Shetty in a press meet.

Sports events

Tug of War for men and women, cross country race for men and women, throwball for women, Kabbaddi and throwball for high school kids will be organised.

Folk games such as ‘shelling the coconut’ competition, ‘weaving the palm leaves,’ ‘Chennemanne for women’ will also be held.

Cultural events

Kannada elocution on topic “Women who fought for Indian Independence,” Group singing of Tulu songs, essay competition on topic “Tulunadu’s brave woman Abbakka,” quiz, folk dance, Rangoli competition, drawing competition on topic “Historical event,” mono acting on topic historic themes, Bharathanatyam and fancy dress competitions will be organised as part of the cultural gala.

Winners will be awarded with the first, second and third prize that consists cash prize along with memento and certificate.

January 15 is the last date to enter the competition.
