Udupi, Jan 4: Congress district president Gopal Poojary has resigned from the post on Tuesday January 4. The decision comes in the wake of Congress defeat in zilla panchayat.
The party for the first time in the district here has faced defeat at the ZP elections. It can be recalled here that Poojary had made a decision to quit from the post if the Congress faces defeat in the ZP elections.
In the just concluded poll counting it has emerged that BJP has won the ZP elections by winning 16 seats out of total 25 seats with the Congress winning the remaning.
