Mangalore: Cultural Extravaganza As part of Karavali Utsav from Jan 7

Mangalore, Jan 6: A number of cultural events as part of Karavali Utsav 2010 – 11 will be held at Kadri Park as well as exhibition ground, said additional deputy commissioner S A Prabhakar Sharma, who is also the chairman of the Karavali Utsav Publicity Committee.

Addressing presspersons on Thursday January 6, he said that the two concerts will be held daily on the exhibition ground from 6.00 pm and a special music and dance concert will be held daily at Kadri Park from January 7 to January 16 from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm.

Committee member Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said that a Carnatic Classical vocal programme will be presented by Vidushi Prarthana Sai Narasimhan of Chennai and a Vachana programme by Mounesh Kumar of Mangalore on Friday. Master Akash of Bangalore will present a flute recital on Saturday January 8. A harmony solo concert will also be presented by Pt Vasanth Kanakapur of Dharwad on Sunday January 9. Again on Monday January 10, a Carnatic flute recital will be presented by Krishna Pawan Kumar of Mangalore, after which an instrumental jugalbandi by famous musicians Pt Tejendra Narayan Majumdar of Kolkata and Ustad Rafique Khan of Mangalore will be held. On Tuesday January 11, a concert of devotional songs will be presented by Mahalaxmi Shenoy of Karkala, after which a Bharatanatyam programme will be presented by Divya Sena and troupe of Chennai. On Wednesday January 12, a Kuchupudi dance will be presented by Kishori Posalakanti of Chennai with Carnatic classical concert being featured on January 13 by Prabath and Pramod of Chennai followed by a Bharatanatyam presentation by Vidwan Satyanarayan Raju and troupe of Bangalore.

On January 14, a violin concert will be held by Dileep K J  of Chennai followed by concert by Vidushi Bombay Jayashree and Pt Ronu Majumdar of Mumbai. On January 15, a Hindustani Classical vocal performance and devotional songs will be presented by Dhananjay Hegde of Mumbai followed by Carnatic classical vocal presentation by Vidwan T M Krishna of Chennai.

Besides these programmes, two Udaya Raga concerts will be held on January 9 and January 16 from 6.00 am to 8.00 am.
