Mangalore, Jan 8: A labourer died and two others escaped miraculously, after an under-construction compound wall crashed on them. The incident occurred on Friday January 7 evening at a site in Suratkal, where a complex is under construction.

The deceased has been identified as Sunil from Orissa. One of the labourers, who escaped, was injured in his leg, because of the falling debris. The policemen and labourers immediately dug up the heap of mud and other debris, and found the body of the labourer in question after a ten-minute effort, but he had turned lifeless by then.

The Suratkal police have registered a case about the incident. They asked the officials of the construction company to take all precautions at the time of undertaking construction activities, and to keep full record of the labourers working for them.
