Mangalore, Jan 10: Addressing the audience after inaugurating the valedictory function of the golden jubilee celebrations of Billava Sangh Ashok Nagar in the city on Sunday January 9, former union minister, B Janardan Poojary, exhorted voluntary organizations to steadfastly follow the ideals of social welfare.

“Billava Sangh has been engaged in social service since the last five decades. It has always laid emphasis on empowerment through education, financial assistance, and social equality. It has also been in the forefront in organizing religious programmes,” he noted, duly wishing that a perspective of the experiences and achievements of the Sangh during the last 50 years will inspire the present leadership to undertake service-oriented programmes with added vigour.

He also asked the state Chief Minister to include honest politicians like N Yogish Bhat in the state ministry.

MLA, N Yogish Bhat, who presided over the function, said that serving the people with honesty and integrity have always been the guiding forces of his functioning. He thanked Janardan Poojary for the latter’s encouraging words, and congratulated Billava Sangh for its initiatives in social service sector.
