Bantwal: Kalanayana award conferred on Nrityaguru Vidwan Ullal Mohan Kumar

Bantwal, Mar 14: Senior Nrityaguru Vidwan Ullal Mohan Kumar was conferred on the Kalanayana award instituted in the name of renowned comedian of Yakshagana late Nayanakumar in ‘Nrityadhara-2022’ programme that was held with the cooperation of Kannada and culture department Bengaluru under the aegis of Puttur Sridevi Nrityaradhana Kala Kendra.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Vidwan Mohan Kumar said, “It is really appreciable that Sridevi Kalakendra is making sincere efforts in preserving and nurturing Bharatanatyam, traditional Sanatana art form.”

In the programme that was held at Sparsha Kala Mandir of Puttur on the evening of Saturday Vignesh Vishwakarma couple of Puttur Bhavana Kala Arts were felicitated. Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik Ullipadiguthu honoured the couple and said that it is really appreciable that Sridevi Nrityaradhana centre has produced several artistes in the past 15 years.

President of Puttur city municipality Jeevandhara Jain presided over the function. Former state president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad Harikrishna Punaroor, assistant director of Mangaluru Kannada and culture department Rajesh, president of Bantwal city planning authority Devadas Shetty and Rajeshwari Ullala were the guests on the occasion.

Students of Kalakendra presented Nrithyadhara under special light effect. Vidushi Rohini Uday presented Navagraha Nritya Roopaka.

Vidushi Rohini Uday did the introductory speech. Uday Venkatesh, convener of Sridevi Nrityaradhana Kala Kendra, welcomed the gathering and rendered the vote of thanks.
