Udupi, Mar 18: "Siddaramaiah himself is an advocate. Still, he resents the high court verdict in the assembly. This alone is enough for us to understand the mindset of these people. Congressmen need not look elsewhere in search of people who can tank their party. Their own people are efficient enough to do that job," said union minister of state for agriculture and farmer welfare, Shobha Karandlaje, directing her salvos at the Congress party leaders.
"The Congress has disappeared from the country because of constantly following vote bank politics and owning the politics of appeasement. We might recall that the Congress was the undisputed king of Uttar Pradesh for four to five decades. There was a feeling that winning Uttar Pradesh meant victory in the whole nation. Even after reaching the nadir, the Congress is not learning its lessons. In Karnataka, the Congress is still breathing a little. But Siddaramaiah and D K Shivakumar are smothering it by creating a harmful atmosphere," she stated.
She said that the Congress is always pursuing the policy of appeasing a particular religion or caste, adding that because of this, the country is witnessing various problems. "Because of this, the current situation prevails in Kerala and Kashmir. We will not allow Karnataka to become another Kashmir. People will not allow it. Congress will witness its own downslide towards the doom," she said.
On the issue of the Hijab, she said that everyone has to honour the Indian Constitution and respect the law of the land. "For some, they rank higher in order than the Constitution. They are showing arrogance and callous behaviour to criticize the high court judgement. They should be punished as per law. The children are in need of good education, and religion has no relevance in learning and doing jobs. Intelligent children should study and get good jobs besides becoming self reliant. Muslim girls too should become educated. Poor girls are instigated in the name of Hijab. An organization has been spreading the notion that education without Hijab is not needed. We have to find the unseen hands at work behind this mindset," she stated.
She asked the girl students to attend schools, duly assuring them that the principal and monitoring committees will protect their interests. She asked the students not to fall prey for the misguided tactics and conspiracies.
She analyzed that the withdrawal of the Farm Act had actually harmed the interests of the farmers.
