Bantwal, March 22: “As the demand for drinking water is likely to increase during the next two months, its supply will be a challenge for the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC),” said mayor Premananda Shetty.
He was speaking after offering Bagina and performing other rituals on the banks of Netravati river, the source of drinking water for MCC limits.
“The city did not face a shortage of drinking during the last two years as the district was quiet due to Covid pandemic. But the demand for water is likely to increase in April and May months of summer this year. A meeting in this connection has already been held with the officials concerned. Water has been stored to suffice for two or three months as a precaution. But use water sparingly,” he requested.
Keonics president Harikrishna Bantwal said that poojas are being held all over the world for nature’s amazing gift of water. “Poojas should be held at every house to preserve the sources of water,” he said.
