Mangaluru: Bappanadu temple trustees disown banners prohibiting Muslims from setting stalls

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Mar 23: A banner displayed near Bappanadu Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple and the Mulky bus stand have announced that Muslims cannot pitch their stalls at the annual fair of the temple. Now, hereditary and managing trustees of the temple have clarified that the temple has nothing to do with these banners.

Hereditary trustee of the temple, Dugganna Sawanth of Mulky Seeme and managing trustee N S Manohar Shetty have given this clarification.

Speaking to media persons, hereditary trustee of the temple, Dugganna Sawanth, reiterated that the banner was not set up by the temple. He said that no restrictions have been set against the Muslims conducting their trade in the annual festival of the temple. He clarified that some of the Muslim traders have removed the shops set up by them on their own, to make sure that no unsavoury incidents happen at the annual fair.

Managing trustee of the temple, M S Manohar Shetty, also stated that the temple has not placed any restriction on the people of different religions from conducting business at the annual fair of the temple. He pointed out that if any unwarranted incidents happen, it would be not possible to extend protection to everyone. Therefore he said, people willing to conduct business here are made aware of the situation and if they agree to the same, business licences are issued.

Sometime back, banners barring Muslims from taking part in the annual fair of Bappanadu temple had been hung near the said temple and the bus stand. The managing committee which held emergency meeting in the morning, had removed the banners issued in the name of the temple committee. Thereafter, some miscreants exhibited new banner in the name of all the Hindu brethren, it is learnt.

When temple committee has nothing to do with this Banner,s,then Temple trustees should say One word .Say that noone has to put banner in their vacanity, prohibiting others.to do trade.Everyone is welcome to do trade as others. That might work. They are washing hands ,to say we are not responsible, leaving a window open to trouble makers.Thats not fine. They are not going there to do Puja or something.Let one live and you live your own.Only making and looking for troubles. Will this Bappanadu Daiva or God like?May get angry ??

Very sad to know that a place of so called educated and intellectuals regressing backwards towards stone ages by coming under the influence of vested interests, who they don't understand, that they are doing to further their personal and party's agenda! Karnataka has lost all it's glory because of these dirty politics; not knowing how much of overall damage it's doing including economic. Do you think any sane industrialist would think of setting shop in a place with such an unstable environment! God only should give them sadjbudhi!

By the by, the banner does not mention the word "Muslim" or any other religion. Its says People who disrespect the law or constitution of the land, people who inhumanly kill ( slaughter) the cows that we worship, people who challenge the Unity of the country , religious fanatics and Cow killers ( again) are not allowed to set their stalls here. Why people are acting like "Kumbalakaai Kallas" now . Why some people think its them one of the above ???

The banner displaying cow slaughters are not allowed for setting stalls. How the commitee will identify who actually are they... They may be from neighbouring Goa, Kerala, may be from those who exporting beef belong to majority.. Makes no sense at all

Its very sad that the situation has come up to this. No sane Hindus or who care for our dharma will ever take such a step or mix politics in our culture. All started with few vested interests who were behind the Hijab controversy which should have been resolved locally , now miscreants are pouring fuel to that fire here and there and disturbing the majority of us who do not want such divide among communities.

We can only pray that good sense prevail among all the community. It is easy to divide among the society and community. Very hard to regain the lost trust and understanding among the communities. May God have his blessings on all.
