Mangaluru, Mar 24: Actor, director and dramatist K Radhakrishna, said that plays which are written by depicting real life experiences that are presented to the audience in a touching way can have lasting influence on the society at large.
He was speaking after accepting the award conferred on him at the two-day drama festival, 'Rangabhaskara - 2022' organized at Canara PU College here as part of the platinum jubilee celebrations of the district theatre. This two-day programme was held by Karnataka Nataka Academy in association with Rangasangathi Cultural Foundation.
"Changes have happened in the plays in tune with changing times. Like the initiative undertaken to identify the veterans who have high achievement in the field of theatre, a new initiative to create consciousness about the plays among the children is being started in the city. There are plans to include theatre activities along with the syllabus. People should wholeheartedly support this plan," he said.
'Rangabhaskara' award being given away in memory of the late Bhaskar Nelliteertha, a multi-dimensional talent and founder of 'Rangasangathi' was handed over to actor, director and dramatist, K Radhakrishna on the occasion.
A Kannada play, 'That's All Your Honour', was presented by Rangasangathi Cultural Foundation on this occasion.
Retired Karnataka Bank Ltd officer P Manohar, president of Bar Association Mangaluru, N Narasimha Hegde, Rangamane Sullia director Jeevanram Sullia, president of Arebhashe Cultural and Sahitya Academy, Laxminarayana Kajegadde, veteran director Richard Castelino, Karnataka Nataka Academy Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district member convener, M K Matha, Rangasangathi Cultural Foundation president Gopalakrishna Shetty, Shashiraj Rao Kavoor, Laxman Kumar Mallur and others were present.
