Puttur: Teacher couple lose ornaments worth lac in theft

Puttur, Mar 30: In an incident reported from Shantinagara in Bellippady village here, gold ornaments worth lacs of rupees were stolen. The value of the gold ornaments lost in the incident has been estimated to be Rs 11.88 lac.

The house where the theft happened has been rented by Shobha, headmistress of Uppinangady government primary school and Ramesh H K, lecturer in Uppinangady PU college.

The couple, it is said, had purchased gold ornaments on the occasion of the birthday of their daughter. The ornaments were placed inside the almirah kept inside the room. At night, they checked the almirah and were shocked to find that the ornaments had gone missing. The couple said that the theft happened between March 23 and 26.

A case in this connection was filed in the town police station here.
