Udupi: Grama Bhajan organized from Apr 2 at Kadiyali village as part of Brahmakalashotsava


Udupi, Mar 31: As part of preparatory event of the Brahmakalashotsava of Kadiyali Shri Mahishamardini temple, a month-long ‘Grama Bhajane’, a unique programme that involves singing bhajans in every house, will begin on the occasion of Chandramana Ugadi from Saturday, April 2, said K Raghavendra Kini, general secretary of renovation committee of Kadiyali temple.

He was speaking at the Press Club on Thursday, April 31, Kini further informed that Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Kaniyur Math will inaugurate the programme.

Kota Srinivas Poojary, Backward class and Social Welfare minister, Raghupathi Bhat, MLA, Dr Raviraj Acharya, temple administrative head and Upadhyaya family will be the guests.

The committee has formed five Bhajan teams for 1600 houses of Kadiyali village, 12 members included in each team and the team will visit every house and sing Bhajans. The unique programme will go for 28 days. The committee leaders to bhajan team, named as Kyatyayini, Parvathi Shambhavi and Bhairavi. The team will cover 12 to 15 houses every day.

On April 28, Bhajana Mangalotsava (concluding of bhajan) will be held in a grand manner.

The committee has decided to offer five swarna kalasha (gold Kalasha) with the cooperation of the devotees. It has received 24 grams already. The committee urged the devotees to support in large numbers.

Nagesh Hegde, president, renovation committee of the temple, Manjunath Hebbar, member, management committee, Jeevarathna Devadiga, head of Grama Bhajan programme, Uday and others were present.
