Udupi: Trespassing, threat on life – Accused sentenced to two years in prison

Udupi, Apr 1: First additional CJ and JMFC court sentenced five accused to two years in prison and a fine of Rs 10000 for trespassing, destroying compound wall and felling of trees using JCB machine of complainant Rekha Pai.

On February 13, 2014, convicts Arun Sanil, Alwin Vaz, both residents of Badanidiyoor, Priya Rodrigues, resident of Tenkanidiyoor, Gracy D’Souza of Thottam and Vishwanatha Tingalaya of Kodavoor had trespassed the patta land of Rekha Pai situated at Tenkanidiyoor village in order to construct a road for their convenience. They also damaged the compound wall and got the huge trees uprooted with JCB. They had also abused Rekha Pai and threatened her with dire consequences when she tried to object their action.

A case in this connection was registered at Malpe police station.

Justice Shyamprakash, who conducted inquiry of the case, convicted the accused and sentenced them to two years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000. Assistant public prosecutor Mohini K had argued for prosecution.
