Udupi: Somashekhar Bhat, family donate dialysis machine to Govt hospital Ajjarkadu

Udupi, Apr 1: Senior BJP leader Somashekhar Bhat and family donated a dialysis machine to Government District hospital, Ajjarkadu on Thursday, March 31.

K Raghupati Bhat, MLA Udupi inaugurated the dialysis machine.

After inaugurating the machine, he was addressing the media and said, "There were ten dialysis machine in the district hospital, out of which three were not operating due to poor service. Thus, there was an urgent requirement of additional machines in the hospital. Already about 50 regular patients are on queue. The hospital is able to provide treatment to only 24 patients in a day while the actual capacity is 40 patients to diagnose everyday. Hence, the hospital is not able to fulfill the current requirement. One dialysis machine costs about Rs 6.5 lac. I have also requested some philanthrophists to donate dialysis machine," he said.

Kurma Rao, district commissioner, Dr Madhusudan Nayak, district hospital surgeon, Sumithra Nayak, president, City Municipality Council, Lakshmi Manjunath, vice president, Balakrishna Shetty, president, standing committee, Manohar Kalmady, president, Udupi Urban Development authority, Mahesh Takoor, president, Town BJP Udupi, Rashmi Chittharanjan Bhat, Ajjarkad ward councillor and donors, Vishwanath Bhat, Vallabha Bhat and Vaman Bhat, partners of the Varun Piping Systems Manipal were present on the occasion.
