Mangaluru, Apr 8: Kannada Development Authority chairperson T S Nagabharana on Friday, April 8 said that to preserve Kannada for the future generation and to maintain its richness, giving importance to the Kannada language is very essential. Hence, the language should be effectively implemented with respect and love mainly in the three sectors-education, employment and administration.

He was speaking to the media after holding a review meeting on how effectively the Kannada language was implemented in the government departments and the private sectors in the district.

He also said that during the pandemic, he conducted 18 seminars for NRI teachers across the world on how to teach Kannada to beginners. Several people actively participated in this seminar, he added.

"When people realise the beauty and richness of the Kannada language and when it is effectively implemented in administration, even the non-Kannada speakers will learn the language making it flourish," he added.

He also said that the union governments' National Education Policy gives importance to the regional languages.

"We have asked the national banks and private companies to use Kannada in name boards, chalan, websites, cheques, and while interacting with the public. The Kannada language can be preserved only if we go along with the community. But, only through administrative decisions, it is not possible."

Comparatively to other districts, the Dakshina Kannada administration has effectively implemented the language in 90% of the departments, he said.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V, ZP CEO Kumar, MCC commissioner Akshy Shridhar, Kannada Development Authority 's Santhosh Hanegal and Ramesh Gubbi were present.
