Vaccination for children: Udupi stands third, Dakshina Kannada occupies sixth spot

Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 15: Twin coastal districts are showing excellent progress in the Covid-19 vaccination drive for children in the age group of 12 to 14 in the state.

In Udupi district, so far 28,426 children have been vaccinated against a target of 30,935. In the district of Dakshina Kannada, the target is to vaccinate 60,573 children out of which so far 50,350 children have been administered the first dose Covid-19 vaccine.

Education and health department are working in tandem for the success of the campaign. Corbevax vaccine is given to children in the age group 12 years to 14 years with a gap of 28 days between the two doses.

Children born before 2010, meaning those who have attained 12 years of age, are eligible to register online on the Cowin app. The date and time will be given during registration.

All children above the age group of 12 years are being vaccinated in Dakshina Kannada. Almost 100 percent of the children in frontline warrior group have been vaccinated against the Covid-19. In the 15 years to 17 years age group, 119.65% has been achieved in getting themselves fully vaccinated. In the 45 to 60 age group 105.77% have been vaccinated fully. So far 29,339 people are vaccinated.

The first six places for vaccination against Covid-19 among children are bagged by Vijayapura, Bidar, Udupi, Hassan, Gadag and Dakshina Kannada districts.
