Mangalore, Feb 14: “At the state government level, a decision has been taken to release an additional grant of Rs 100 crore for the development of the city. By using this fund, various works including strengthening of infrastructure and asphalting of roads will be taken up,” said district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar. He was speaking after unveiling a plaque at the spot designated for the construction of the new Suratkal police station, on Sunday February 13.

Palemar said that the limit of the city corporation will be extended in the coming days, to cover Chelyaru, Haleangady and Mulky. “Police residential quarters will be built in Katipalla in about an acre of land. Land has been allotted by New Mangalore Port Trust for the construction of Panambur police circle office and police sub-division, where the department will build its own building. A new building will also be constructed for Kavoor police station too,” he stated.

City police commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh, laid the foundation stone for Suratkal police station. He spoke about the ambitious plan to modernize the police force and transforming policemen into ambassadors of peace.

MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA, Abhayachandra Jain, former MLA, K Vijayakumar Shetty, Dakshina Kannada district superintendent of police, Subodh Yadav, city mayor, Rajani Dugganna, deputy commissioner of police (DCP) of the city crime intelligence bureau, Mutturaya, Pabambur sub-division DCP, Puttamadaiah, Panambur circle inspector of police, Valentine D’Souza, Mulky circle police inspector, Shivaprakash naik, Mangalore traffic inspector, Manjunath Shetty, various other dignitaries, police officials, and others were present.
