Mangalore, February 14: A special pooja for Thumbay vented dam was offeres on Monday at Thumbay by Krishna J Palemar, District in-charge Minister.
Addressing media persons he said the new vented dam will be completed within a year which will be capable of storing 14.70 Million Cubic Meters (MCM) of water against the 4.5 MCM capacity of the existing one.
He also said that while the storage at the existing dam lasted for 20 days at zero-inflow, the water stored in the reservoir after the construction of the new dam would be sufficient to serve for 90 days with zero-inflow.The villages around the dam such as Haleyangady, Moodushedde, Mala, Saripalla, Mulky, Neerumarga, Thellar will get sufficient water from the new vented dam,
Mayor Rajani Dugganna, MCC Commissioner Dr KN Vijaya Prakash, Shantha, Ranganath K and others were present on the occasion.
