Udupi: Three MPs Meet Minister – Demand for Train Extension

Udupi, Feb 16:  Three MPs representing the coastal districts of Karnataka, D V Sadanand Gowda, Nalin Kumar Kateel, and Anantakumar Hegde, met minister of state for railways, K H Muniyappa, and chairman of Railway Board, S S Khurana, and handed over memorandums demanding extension of Bangalore-Mangalore train to Karwar.

They pointed out that Bangalore-Mangalore route has provide to be profitable, as it facilitates people to travel to the state headquarters, and also as the route facilitates transportation of goods that are bound to be sent via sea route. They have reminded the ministry that as against the popular demand for extending the Bangalore-Mangalore night train to Karwar, the train was extended to Kannur in Kerala.

    Yes they are right in demanding the train to be extended to Karwar. The state capital train need to be connected to the state cities first, as from Mulki, Udupi people depend on the bus only to reach Bangalore, Mysore. I am wondering what Veerappa Moily doing pretty sitting at the centre, and being very influential in the congress govt and can influence to alter any govt decisions as on date to favor Karnataka. He did not do anything good to Mangalore/Udupi when he was chief min of Karnataka.
