Udupi, Feb 17: Nethaji Sports Club, in association with DK and Udupi district cricket association, approved by Karnataka state Cricket Association, held Nethaji Cricket Trophy 2011, Invitational Cup T20 day and night mega cricket event at Manipal University Cricket Ground, End Point, recently.
Line and Form Bangalore, consisting IPL and KPL players, clinched the Nethaji Cricket Trophy 2011 by defeating Goa Futa XI by five wickets.
After winning the toss, Goa elected to bat and scored 117 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. In reply, Line and form Bangalore reached the target in the 16th over by loosing five wickets.
The winners and the runners-up team were awarded with attractive trophies and cash prizes.
Ibrez of Line and Form was the man of the match, Karan More, Mumbai XI was the best batsman, Vinoo Prasad of Line and Form was the best bowler of the tournament, Rakesh of DTDC Bangalore was judged as best fielder and Chintha Sha, Goa XI was declared as man of the series.
HP XI Mumbai won the third place beating DTDC Bangalore.
N C Aiappa, Ranji player, Dr H S Ballal Prof chanceller, Manipal University, Jayaprakash Hegde, former minister, Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Dr Srikanth Rai, president DKCA, and Vasu Sherigar, president UDCA were present during the prize distribution ceremony.
