Mangalore, Feb 18: In the meeting of Dakshina Kannada District Cooperative Milk Producers Union held on Thursday February 17, it was decided to pass on the entire benefit of the increased milk price to the dairy farmers. The meeting decided to increase the price of milk procured by it, by two rupees a litre with effect from February 15.
With this, the farmers will now get Rs 18.50 per litre of milk, as against Rs 16.50 they got earlier. With the addition of one rupee incentive extended by the union till March 31, and another two rupees given by the government as support price, the farmers get a minimum of Rs 21.50 per litre of milk sold by them to KMF.
The union president has requested the farmers to make use of these benefits to the fullest, and increase the milk production, so that the union’s dependency on other milk unions for milk procurement will be lessened.
