Bangalore, Feb 19: Minister for higher education, Dr V S Acharya, clarified that the combined entrance test (CET) will be held on April 27 and 28 as scheduled. He stressed that the dates of the tests will not be postponed for any reason whatsoever.

The minister sought to bring curtains down on rumours making rounds about the likely changes in the CET dates. He had convened a press conference on Friday February 18 specifically to clarify the position.

He said that the second PU examinations in the state will be conducted from March 17 and 30. Results will be announced by May 2. The CBSE result also is expected to be announced by May 23. Hence, there is no reason for postponement of the CET, he felt.

Acharya said that counselling for the medical and engineering seats will begin on June 2, and that in addition to Bangalore, Gulbarga, Hubli, Shimoga and Mangalore, two new centres, Belgaum, and Chitradurga, have been added this year for conducting the CET interview. He informed that CET applications can be submitted from March 5 to April 5, and that the application fee for the same is Rs 650 for general category, Rs 500 for scheduled castes and tribes, and Rs 750 for those who file applications through post.
