Mangalore: Fisherman Falls Into Sea, Remains Untraced

Mangalore, Feb 22: Ganapati (30), a native of Bhatkal, working as fisherman for a boat here, fell into the sea at around midnight on Sunday February 20, and remained untraced till Monday evening.

Ganapati, working for ‘Alraj’ fishing boat, had lost his balance and fallen into the sea, after the boat left the old fishing port at Bunder here at 11 pm on Sunday. Ganapati, working for U S Hamid, who owns the boat, was sitting on the edge of the boat, and lost balance when the boat heaved, it is said.

The others in the boat instantly conveyed the information to the boat owner through wireless set. Immediately, three boats were sent to search for Ganapati. The search operation continued on Monday too. But Ganapati, who has a wife and two daughters, and who has been working here since the last some years, remained untraced.
