Bantwal, Feb 24: Swastik Friends Club ® Punjalkatte, near here, will organize a mass wedding programme and confer the Swasti Siri state award on their 27th annual day celebrations here on Sunday March 6.
 
The mass wedding programme will be held at Punjalkatte Kattemane Maidan in Pilatabettu village at 11.45 am on Sunday in the presence of Krishna Bhat, chief priest, Govind Krishna Temple, Punjalkatte.
 
Mumbai entrepreneur Kashimeera Bhaskar Shetty will inaugurate the procession of brides and bridegrooms that will begin from Punjalkatte Government School ground at 9.00 am on Sunday in the presence of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, state minister Krishna J Palemar, state BJP vice-president Sulochana G K Bhat, and Coastal Development Authority chairman Nagaraj Shetty.
 
The brides will be presented with wedding dress, jewellery, and ‘mangalasutra’ and the bridegrooms will be presented with wedding dress and Rs 10,000 will be deposited in a joint account in the name of the couple.
 
It may be recalled that 57 couples had been married in 2010 during the mass wedding programme organized by Swastik Friends Club.
 
Mumbai Bunts Sangh promoted Mathra-Bhoomi Credit Society chairman K D Shetty will preside over the mass wedding programme.
 
BJP state president Eshwarappa will inaugurate the programme. State ministers, chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, religious heads of various Mutts, MLAs, movie actors, and distinguished personalities will be present on the occasion.
