Mangalore: Vishwa Konkani Kendra Happy at Budget Allotment for Konkani

Mangalore, Feb 25: Chairman of Konani Language and Cultural Foundation, Dr P Dayanand Pai, has expressed his gratefulness to the state Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, for setting aside a sum of five crore rupees towards different projects of Vishwa Konkani Kendra, which has been set up in the city.

He said that a delegation comprising honorary president of the Kendra, R V Deshpande, and trustee, Ramdas Nayak U, had recently met the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum seeking the government’s assistance for various projects of the Kendra.

He also has thanked state assembly deputy speaker, N Yogish Bhat, ministers, Dr V S Acharya and Krishna Palemar, MPs, Nalin Kumar Kateel and Sadanand Gowda, MLAs, Raghupati Bhat, Ramanath Rai and U T Khader, as well as other dignitaries for supporting the request of the Kendra and helping it to secure budgetary assistance from the state government.

Working president of Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Basti Vaman Shenoy, has noted that people having their mother tongue as Konkani and living within Karnataka, have been contributing considerably for the economic and cultural progress of the state. He said that they will continue to pledge themselves for the welfare of the state, its language and the people.

    Thank you Sri. Yadiyurappa ji for your consideration. Vishwa Konkani kendra is doing great work and great place to do work. I visited recently there found it very interesting place to be.

    I hope this continue to do great work towards protecting our langauage, history and culture.
