Udupi, Feb 28:
The district branch of the All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA) organized the 13th divisional women’s convention at Lions Bhavan, Brahmagiri, on Sunday February 27.

Divisional AIIEA president Prabhakar B Kundar hoisted the flag on Sunday morning while Picchalli Srinivas inaugurated the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas highlighted the responsibilities of the working class in the backdrop of anti-labour policies of governments through folk songs.

He urged the working class to develop questioning abilities as it provides an opportunity for healthy discussions and enables formation of an oppression-free society.

AIIEA Bangalore divisional chief secretary S K Geetha was the chief guest on the occasion.

Geetha said that a woman should determine where it’s essential for her to be obedient and disobedient based on equality in a male-dominated society.

She lamented over the hike in prices of essential commodities in an era of globalization, chiefly due to the erroneous policies of governments which has put a great amount of strain on common folks who are struggling for food once a day when a large quantity of food grains are lying in the state-run stockyards.

AIIEA divisional chief secretary U Gurudutt and divisional Insurance Pensioners’ Association chief secretary A Madhwaraj Ballal were also present.

Nirmala welcomed the gathering.  Ratna B proposed the vote of thanks and Ratna Balakrishna compered the programme.
