Udupi: Lokayukta Traps Corrupt Taluk Office Employee

Udupi, Mar 2: Manjunath Naik, a second division clerk of the taluk office here, was nabbed by the Lokayukta officials on Tuesday March 1, while accepting illegal gratification from an applicant. The Lokayukta, while nabbing him, acted on a complaint filed by the aggrieved, Shivapalan.

Shivapalan, a resident of Gundibail here, had applied for converting his ten cent plot in December last. Even after three months, his file had not moved much. Two days back, when he approached Naik, with whom the file was pending, demanded a bribe of two thousand rupees, Shivapalan said in his complaint.

After Shivapalan approached the Lokayukta office here, he was asked to record his conversation with the employee in a voice recorder. As per the instructions, Shivapalan also paid Rs 2,000 to Naik on Tuesday evening. Immediately thereafter,  the Lokayukta superintendent of police, D S Jagamayyanavar, deputy superintendent of police, Prabhudev Mane, and other staff participated in the raid.

    I am from Madikeri in Coorg district, appreciable work from Udupi lokayuktha, every officers including higher level are corrupted they are supporting each other while receiving money (locally called Lancha) from the peoples. As per my experience i have property which not partitioned, and to have documents for that Village accountant asking 2,000 to 3,000 (including lancha for RI), what a country, india will become worst country on the planet if this situation continues, Lokayuktha officer must raid on all corrupted officers. I appreciate Udupi lokayuktha officers. clean the government offices by deleting dirty officers.
