Karkala: Leo Pereira Abduction – Another Held

Karkala, Mar 3: In connection with the abduction of Leo Pereira, an entrepreneur from Miyar in Karkala taluk last year, the policemen of Karkala town police station arrested a person, who already has criminal records, on Wednesday March 2. It may be recalled that the policemen of the district crime intelligence bureau had arrested three people on Tuesday in this respect. With this, the number of arrested persons has risen to four.

The fourth accused has been identified as Ummer from Renjal, who was accused in this case in the past, and had been released on bail. He also had secured bail in another case relating to street brawl. Reportedly, Bharat and Dhanu, who had gone underground, and Prashant Poojary, had threatened Leo to pay Rs 20 lac to be able to secure bail.

Karkala circle inspector of police, Puttaswamy Gowda, and sub-inspector, Pramod Kumar P, were involved with the above arrest. On Wednesday, all the four accused were produced in the local court. They were remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
