Udupi: Supply of Lethal Weapons – Bangalore-based Rowdies Arrested

Udupi, Mar 3: Kota police sub-inspector, Mahesh Prasad and personnel from his police station, who were on night patrol, intercepted a car near Airody in the district on Tuesday March 1 night, and arrested two Bangalore-based rowdies, besides confiscating lethal weapons they were carrying with them.

Ganesh alias Jeetu (25), from Doddkalsandra, and his associate, Dhruvakumar (23) from J P Nagar Bangalore, were arrested. Both of them are learnt to be notorious criminals.

They are involved with financing business in Bangalore, and have been named in a few murder and extortion cases. During interrogation, they reportedly confessed that they were carrying chilli powder for waylaying people in deserted roads and also to supply the weapons to an individual from Kundapur. Two swords, steel rods, knives and chilli powder were recovered from their possession. The weapons were stored in the boot of the car, while the chilli powder was kept in the dash board.

When the car sped away even after signalling it to stop, the policemen chased it, and intercepted it near a petrol bunk in Gundmi village on national highway 17.  Ganesh is a native of Chippikatte in Balkudru in the district, but is residing in Bangalore since the last 15 years. Dhruvavakumar is from Tombattu in Hengavalli, and he too was born and brought up in Bangalore. They came here in the guise of participating in a car festival here, it is learnt.

Additional superintendent of police, Venkateshappa, is guiding the investigation being conducted by district deputy superintendent of police, Jayant V Shetty, and Brahmavar circle inspector, Jayant Shetty.
