Puttur: Tankers Collide – Drivers Injured

Puttur, Mar 4: Two LPG tankers got involved with a head-on collision in front of a hospital on national highway 48 near Nelyady on Thursday March 3. In the incident, drivers of both the tankers, identified as Balamurugan (24) and Murali (28), sustained serious injuries.

One of the tankers was hired by HPCL, while the other was carrying LPG on behalf of Indian Oil Corporation. Due to the impact of the accident, both the drivers were tossed to roadside gorge. Both the drivers are being treated in a private hospital in Mangalore. Front portions of the vehicles were badly managed, but gas leak did not occur as in the past such incidents.

Police officials, C T Suresh and Ramaiah Gowda, stationed in Nelyady, rushed to the spot and took up rescue operations. Local people, led by zilla panchayat member, Balakrishna Banajal, helped in the operation.
