Udupi, June 6: “We are making all efforts to get permission from the government for making 25% of development work independently through the temple management”, said Kashekodi Surya Narayan Bhat, state religious council member of the Temples’ Management committee presidents and members convention, organised by Kadiyali Temple.

He was speaking after inaugurating the convention at the Brahmakalashotsava event held on Sunday, June 5 at Sharvani Mantapa.

He further said, “let us build society through building temples. Religious endowment department has been doing a great job since three years and we are trying to extend the administration period up to five years. A software has been developed for centralising the financial budget and account details and we aim to upgrade the same software for better performance. The government is providing Rs 5000 for each traveller under the Bharat Gaurav Scheme. It is an inclusive package of visiting religious places by train. Public should make use of the benefit of the Saptapadi scheme,” Surya Narayan Bhat said.

Keradi Chandrashekhar Shetty, president, management committee, Kolluru Mukambika temple, said, “a management committee will be formed for the integral development of a temple. The temple committee had a five-year tenure earlier, But, now the duration has reduced to three years. Hence, we are unable to take up much of the development work within a short period. The government should give complete power to take an independent decision in terms of development. It should allow committees on health, education and religious activities.

Dr Raviraj Acharya, president, Kadiyali  temple management committee said, “we are thinking of forming a federation of  coastal districts’ temples soon and he urged for cooperation from management of the committees of various temples.

K Mohan Upadhya, member district religious parishat, Ramakanth Devadiga, member, district religious parishat, Ganesh rao, tahsildar, religious endowment department, Nagesh Hegde, Temple renovation committee, Purushottam Shetty, president, Brahmakalashotsava committee and others were present.
