Udupi: Hi-tech bus stand built in loving memory of parents

Udupi, Jun 11: Children have dedicated a bus stand in loving memory of their parents.

Children of Attanje Shambu Shetty and Hemalatha Shetty have built a hi-tech bus stand at Shirva village in the district at a cost of Rs 40 lakh to commemorate the couple's 50th wedding anniversary and dedicated it to the society.

The hi-tech bus stop was inaugurated at the village by the couple themselves and handed over to the Shirva gram panchayat.

Later at a programme held in the Shirva Mahila Soudha, Kuthyaru Kenja Sridhara Tantri, Fr Dennis D'Sa of Shirva Arogya Matha Devalaya and Sirajuddin Zaini of Shirva Sunni Jamia Masjid lit a lamp and inaugurated the bus stop.

Attanje Shambu Shetty and Hemalatha Shetty were felicitated by the gram panchayat on the occasion.

Kuthyaru Kenja Sridhar Tantri likened the worldly journey to a bus stand while thanking and congratulating the couple for contributing the wealth that they got from god to the society.

Fr Dennis D'Sa said the bus stand is a symbol of inclusiveness and communal harmony while complimenting the couple for their contribution. Sirajuddin Zaini said Shambu Shetty, Hemalatha Shetty and their children have contributed to the people of Shirva which will remain in people's memory for a long time.

The hi-tech bus stand has come in for praise from all the citizens of the village as it provides shelter to all those embarking on a journey. It also symbolises the love of children towards their parents.
