Bantwal, Jul 18: In a tragic incident a farmer from Ididu taluk killed self as he could not repay the agricultural loan. A case in this connection was filed at Vittal police station.
The deceased is identified as Sanjeeva Poojary (75). His son Naveen has filed a complaint with the police. In his complaint Naveen said that his father had taken loan for agriculture purpose from cooperative society and the society sent notice for repayment of the same.
On the evening of July 14 Sanjeeva, out of frustration at his difficult financial situation consumed poison at his home and was writhing in pain. His brother-in-law Shekhara Poojary and others took him to Puttur government hospital at around 7 pm. But the doctors declared him brought dead.
Vittal police are investigating further.
