Udupi, Jul 18: The Manipal Auto club, Manipal Town Rotary, Polytechnic Interact Club, Manipal Hills Rotary observed Red Rose Day on Saturday, July 16 in association with Manipal police station.

Nityananda Nayak, president, Manipal Town Rotary said, "Road accidents are taking more lives in the world just because of violation of traffic regulations. There is a need to create awareness about speed driving, wearing seat belt and helmet. This is a programme, of sensitising such people by giving a red rose who violate traffic norms, added.

To mark this day, the club volunteers stopped vehicles driving on the wrong sides in different places, and offered a rose to them.

Nishanth Bhat, president, Manipal Auto Club, Savitha Bhat, Sundar Shetty, Dayanand Nayak, Umesh Rao, Gopal Ganiga, Kemparaj, Dr Sridhar, Dr Deepak Ram Bayari, Vishwesh Rao, president, Rotaract, Ningaraj, Ashwini, Kiran and volunteers and R Huban Thomas, Nirmal, Vinod Pai, Nataraj Prabhu, Sudhir Nayak, other executive members of MAC were present.

Manjunath, Manipal police inspector guided the volunteers.
