Moodbidri, Jul 21: A member of Dakshina Kannada Kambala committee has filed complaint against three including ‘Usain Bolt of Kambala’ fame Srinivasa Gowda of creating fake records in order to get lacs of rupees of donations and thereby cheating general public.

Owner of Kambala buffaloes, Lokesh Shetty has filed complaint with station officer of Moodbidri. In his complaint Lokesh says that the technology used for deciding speed in Kambala cannot be trusted and it has no authorised recognition. He accused that fake records were created to get lac of rupees in donations and thereby cheating the public.

Gunapala Kadamba of Kambala Academy is the first accused, Srinivasa Gowda is the second accused and Ratnakar, owner of Sky Weave organization which announces the results through laser beam is named as the third accused.

The complaint further says, “Gunapala Kadamba has created several fake records in the name of Srinivasa Gowda, who is said to have got trained in Kambala academy. Thereby he has cheated fans of Kambala, media, people representatives and public. All the three accused have got lac of donations from government and public sector without keeping any account and have cheated the community.

“Third accused in the case Ratnakara has cooperated Gunapala and Srinivas Gowda in all their fraud acts. Without any authorized recognition, he has intentionally given verdict according to his mind in order to cheat public. It is confirmed through a video which went viral few months ago about life threat to people who raised voice against this cheating. Due to these three accused, the fame and prestige of Kambala is in jeopardy. Young racers have lost mental strength to compete.”

Lokesh Shetty has submitted fake record copies along with his complaint. He has sent the copies to city police commissioner, home minister and deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada. Shetty also informed that he will file a private complaint in the court, if the police do not hold any investigation in the matter.

In the Aikala Kambala which was held on February 1, 2020 it was announced that Srinivas Gowda has run 100 meters of Kambala in 9.55 sec, thereby breaking the record of world sprint record holder Usain Bolt, who had run 100 meters in 9.58 sec. This matter was discussed throughout the country. There were also suggestions to use Kambala buffalo racers in sports after training them accordingly.

Srinivasa Gowda was congratulated by the then sports minister Kiran Riju, who invited him to Delhi. In addition, the then chief minister B S Yediyurappa had also honoured and gave assistance. Many organizations also felicitated and gave cash awards.

It is learnt that Kambala racer Srinivasa Gowda is terribly upset by the accusation. Though he was not available for any direct opinion, it is learnt that he has disclosed with his close aides that he never expected any name, fame, honour or financial gifts. He got the record as he run with the buffaloes. Everything has come his way on its own and he is sad that people who celebrated while he created the record are behaving in a different manner now.

City police commissioner Shashikumar said, “District Kambala Committee member Lokesh Shetty has raised a complaint at Moodbidri police station against three people. I have instructed the Moodbidri inspector to do the inquiry. He will investigate about the truth.”

Honorary president of district Kambala committee P R Shetty said, “There is certain reality in the complaint filed by Lokesh Shetty. If any letter has to go with regards to Kambala, it should move only through district Kambala committee. As Gunapala Kadamba neglected district Kambala committee and went ahead certain issues are created. We will cooperate to set this right in future. Srinivas Gowda is a very good person. I thought for sure that he will be made scapegoat. When only one person is given importance, other feel pain. All have to be managed with coordination.”
