Mangaluru, Jul 24: Little children going to school walk are forced to walk on the railway track as the authorities have failed to construct a proper road.

Though people usually travel from Otikajje to Nellikatte on road but as the road has been dug up for development, they are forced to use an alternative road and especially schoolchildren need to walk on the railway track to reach their school.

Moreover, there is a railway overbridge in Nettane above the stream, while walking on the track over the bridge. If any train arrives people or the children face a dangerous situation.

Local representatives state that there is an alternative road. But, few claim that school buses cannot take that route. It is felt walking on the railway track will be much nearer to reach schools and colleges on time.

Though the villagers have appealed to the authorities to finish laying the road before the monsoon, the condition of the road has became worse due to incessant rainfall during the monsoon.

Speaking to daijiworld.com, a local resident Suresh V said, "The gram panchayat is not bothered about the children. There is an overbridge in Nettanige and while walking on the track it is very dangerous because if the train comes there is no space for children to stand. Though there is a small road, the school bus does not come on that alternative route thus forcing the students to walk on railway the track."

Jayan, a local resident, also explained about the plight of little children while walking on the track.

Speaking to daijiworld.com a gram panchayat member said, "The problem has been brought to the notice of the MLA and the MP. Especially, I am making an effort to repair the road from the funds available in the gram panchayat. I am doing whatever is possible from my side."

in other countries first an alternate route is made & approved, and then the main road is repaired/ constructed. But what we do is dig the main road first and then think what could be the alternate road. Smart city smart ppl
