Bommai garlands Devaraj Urs statue to mark his 107th birthday

Bengaluru, Aug 20: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai garlanded the statue of former Chief Minister D Devaraj Urs in front of Vidhana Soudha to mark his 107th birthday in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated a photographic exhibition on the life and achievements of the former Chief Minister hailed as the champion of Backward Classes arranged by the Social Welfare Department in the banquet hall of Vidhana Soudha.

Bommai also conferred the Urs Awards.

Social Welfare and Backward Classes Minister Kota Shrinivas Poojary, Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, BJP MLAs Hartalu Halappa and Kumar Bangarappa, Mysuru-Kodagu BJP MP Pratap Simha and others attended the programme.
